You Say You Trust God… Until Things Get Hard

You Say You Trust God… Until Things Get Hard It’s not just personal problems that test your faith. It’s everything. Finances tightening up. Prices going up. Politics pulling people apart. The world feeling louder, angrier, more unstable by the day. Everywhere you look, there’s something trying to grab your attention… and most of it pulls you away from peace. You start checking accounts more than you check your heart. You start following headlines more than you follow God. You start reacting to the world instead of staying rooted in truth. And little by little… your focus shifts. Not all at once. Just enough to throw you off. Because the truth is, it’s not hard to trust God when everything is quiet. It’s hard when everything around you is loud. It’s hard when fear feels practical. When stress feels justified. When staying calm feels almost irresponsible. I’ve felt that myself… sitting there stressed, trying to control everything I can… while avoiding the one thing I should’ve done first—pray. But here’s what most people don’t realize… You don’t stay grounded by accident. You stay grounded on purpose. Through discipline. Through consistency. Through prayer. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and

What I Use to Stay Grounded (Real Tools for Real Life)

I don’t just write about faith and real life… I’m living it in the middle of work, family, stress, and everything that comes with it. So yeah, I’ve got some tools I lean on. Not perfect ones. Real ones. ⸻ Prayer is the first one. That’s not just something I do when things go wrong. That’s daily. Morning. Throughout the day. Whenever I feel the pressure building. Talking to God resets my mindset. It slows everything down and reminds me I’m not carrying everything on my own. That’s the foundation. ⸻ Staying God-centered This is the most important one. Everything else falls apart when this isn’t right. When I put God first, I think clearer. I respond better. I stay more grounded. When I don’t… it shows. Simple as that. ⸻ Reading and learning This is another one that’s made a difference for me. Not just reading to pass time… reading with purpose. Books that challenge how I think. Books that strengthen my faith. Books that make me stop and actually reflect on my life. Sometimes it’s a few pages in the morning. Sometimes it’s at night when things slow down. But it adds up. It gives me something to

Faith in the Fight: Fear, Forgiveness, Discipline, and Prayer

Faith sounds strong when you say it out loud. But living it? That’s where it gets hard. Because faith doesn’t stand alone. It gets tested by fear. It gets shaped through discipline. It gets blocked by unforgiveness. And it’s sustained through prayer. That’s the real fight. Fear is usually the loudest. It shows up uninvited. It doesn’t care how much you’ve prayed or how strong your faith is supposed to be. It just starts talking. What if something goes wrong? What if this doesn’t work out? What if I’m not ready? I’ve been dealing with that myself lately. Real situations. Real pressure. And fear has a way of feeling more real than faith in those moments. But Scripture doesn’t ignore fear… it confronts it. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” – 2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT) That doesn’t mean fear won’t show up. It means it doesn’t get to lead. Faith means you feel it… but you don’t follow it. And one of the ways you fight that? Prayer. Not just when things go wrong. Daily. Real, honest, consistent prayer. “Never stop praying.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NLT) That

Built Different … Because of Christ

Everyone wants to be strong. Few want to be submitted. That’s the difference. The world teaches you to build yourself. To rely on yourself. To become your own foundation. But if you’ve lived long enough… you already know how that goes. You get tired. You get tested. You get humbled. And sooner or later… you break. Strength Starts With Surrender That’s the part nobody wants to hear. Real strength isn’t found in control. It’s found in surrender. Not to the world. Not to your feelings. To God. “I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me.” — Philippians 4:13 (KJV) A man who submits his life to Christ isn’t weak… he’s anchored. When everything around him shakes, he doesn’t move. Not because he’s strong. Because the One he stands on is. Discipline Still Matters Following Christ doesn’t make life easier. It makes you sharper. You still wake up tired. You still go to work. You still carry responsibility. But now… you don’t do it alone. “Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.” — Proverbs 16:3 (KJV) You pray when you don’t feel like it. You read the Word when your mind is distracted. You

Faith Isn’t Soft – It’s War

Faith Isn’t Soft. It’s War. People talk about faith like it’s comfort. Like it’s sitting quietly, feeling peaceful, and everything just falling into place. That’s not real faith. If you’re being honest, it’s more like sitting in silence while your mind won’t shut off. Thoughts coming at you from every direction. Family. Work. Life balance. Am I doing enough? Did I miss something? Are my kids okay? Are my grandkids safe, healthy, and on the right path? That’s where most of us actually live. Real faith is a fight. It’s waking up already feeling the weight of the day… and choosing God anyway. And if I’m being real, when I don’t start my day with God, it usually shows. The day feels off. Things go sideways quicker. My mindset slips faster than I want to admit. It’s not always that I don’t want to pray. Sometimes I just tell myself I don’t have time. Which, if we’re being honest, is a weak excuse. Faith is praying anyway. Trusting anyway. Moving forward when nothing around you makes sense. That’s not soft. That’s war. Every day there’s a battle going on… not just around you, but inside you. Fear vs trust. Comfort

God Is Answering My Prayers… So Why Am I Still Scared?

Answered Prayers… And Still Nervous You’d think once prayer starts working and life smooths out a little, faith would get easier. It doesn’t. If anything… it gets tested in a quieter way. Prayer has been helping. I pray multiple times every morning. After my shower, with my coffee, even pausing while I’m reading just to talk to God. All before I walk out the door for work. And I can feel the difference. Work has been smoother. My mindset is better. I’ve been more at peace instead of constantly stressed. I’ve also been working on my health for the past few years. The weight loss has been steady. Not perfect, but consistent. I know I could push harder with exercise… but like most people, I fall back on the excuse: “I’m running out of time.” So yes, things are improving. But that doesn’t mean the fear is gone. I’ve got a heart procedure coming up. Another ablation. The Watchman implant for my AFib. And if we’re being real… anything involving your heart gets your attention real fast. I’ve been dealing with heart issues since I was 38. I’ve got stents, including one in the widow maker. So this isn’t
