Faith For Real Life was created to explore what it actually means to live out Christian faith in everyday life. Our goal is simple: to read, learn, and apply biblical truth to real-life situations. Through Christian books, scripture, and personal reflection, we share what we’re learning and how those lessons can shape our daily lives. Faith isn’t meant to stay inside church walls. It’s meant to guide how we live, how we treat others, how we grow in character, and how we navigate both the good days and the difficult ones.
On this site, you’ll find reflections on Christian books, lessons from scripture, and practical thoughts on living a faith-centered life in the real world. We are not pastors or theologians. We are simply men who believe that God’s Word has wisdom for every part of life, and that learning and growing in faith is a lifelong journey. My name is Mike Davis. Husband to Annita. Father of five. Grandfather. And a man who has been broken more times than I expected and put back together more times than I deserved.
I am not a pastor. I am not a theologian. I work a full-time job at FedEx, I come home to a family I love, and I try every day to follow God in the middle of a life that does not slow down and does not always make sense.
I have buried my father. I have sat in a hospital wondering if I was going to make it. I have walked through seasons where my faith felt more like a question than an answer. I have made mistakes I am not proud of, had to ask forgiveness from people I hurt, and learned things about myself in the hard seasons that the easy ones never could have taught me.
That is not a credentials list. That is just real life.
Why This Site Exists
At some point it hit me, faith is easy to talk about when everything is going well. Bills paid, family at peace, health holding, nothing on fire. But that is not where most people actually live. Most people are somewhere in the middle of something hard. Trying to hold a marriage together. Managing stress that does not quit. Dealing with anger they do not know what to do with. Carrying grief that does not have a clean ending. Trying to trust God when the answers are slow and the pressure is not. That is where faith either becomes real or it stays a performance.
I started writing because I needed to say out loud what a lot of people are only thinking. That following God is not always clean. That real faith gets tested. That broken does not mean finished. And that you do not have to pretend to belong here.
What You Will Find Here
Honest writing about real faith. Not polished. Not performative. Not answers that sound good but fall apart when life gets heavy. You will find posts about prayer, forgiveness, marriage, anger, temptation, grief, waiting on God, guarding your heart, and what it actually looks like to follow Jesus when life is loud and hard and nothing is neat.
I do not write alone. My nephew Brian Davis brings his own story, his own scars, and his own honest faith to this site. Between the two of us, we cover a lot of ground, and none of it from a place of having it all figured out.
Who This Is For
If you believe in God but struggle to stay consistent — you are in the right place. If you are tired of faith that only works when life is easy — you are in the right place. If you want honest, straight-talking writing that takes God seriously without pretending life is something it is not — you are in the right place. This is not a perfect story. It is a real one.
And that is exactly why it is worth telling.

Hello, my name is Brian. Each day I get older, and I’m hoping a little wiser. God has been faithful to me throughout every season of my life, and this space is simply my attempt to share some of those experiences as honestly as I can through articles, book reviews, and what I like to call “letters to my boys”—thoughts and reflections for my three sons as they quickly grow into young men.
By profession, I’ve spent more than 20 years working in marketing and communications, including serving in several marketing director roles. Somewhere along the way, I earned an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University and have spent more than two decades designing websites, graphics, and other creative projects. I enjoy the opportunity to create things and communicate ideas, and some of those skills have naturally found their way into Faith for Real Life.
Away from the computer, I’d much rather be outdoors. I enjoy hiking, biking, camping, fishing, golf, shooting sports, and just about anything that gets me into the woods. These days, a good portion of that involves trying to keep up with my three boys, which seems to get a little harder every year.
But at the end of the day, I’m just a regular guy trying to navigate life faithfully as a follower of Christ and a father. It took me far too long, and more than a little pain, to learn what it truly means to place Christ at the center of everything. I certainly haven’t figured it all out. My hope is simply that by sharing some of what I’ve learned, and sometimes what I’m still learning, I might encourage or help someone else in some small way on their own journey.
As my Uncle Mike often says, we’re not theologians, so don’t expect flawless biblical insight or deeply academic discussions. What you can expect, however, is sincerity, humility, and the perspective of someone who is still learning, still growing, and still discovering what it means to follow Christ in real life. And perhaps something here will help you take one more step toward becoming more like Him.
