You’ve been waiting for something to change, or for someone coming to save you.
Waiting for things to line up, or for the right moment. Waiting for somebody to show up and make it easier.
Nobody’s coming.
That’s not a tragedy. That’s the test.
Stubbornness Dressed Up as Independence
Most men are carrying weight they were never meant to carry alone, while refusing the only help that actually works. Too proud to pray and too tired to keep going without it.
That’s not strength. That’s stubbornness dressed up as independence.
God isn’t looking for a man who has it all figured out. Instead, He’s looking for a man who shows up anyway.
He Goes Where You Go
“This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).
God said that to Joshua right after Moses died. The man who had led everything was gone, and Joshua was next. He didn’t feel ready. God didn’t tell him he was ready. Instead, He told him who was going with him.
Wherever you go. Not wherever you feel ready. Not wherever it makes sense.
That means the hard conversation and the doctor’s appointment. The bill you don’t know how to pay. Even the morning you wake up already exhausted before the day even starts.
He’s already there. You just have to move.
Where Real Help Comes From
The world will tell you a strong man doesn’t need help. But Scripture will tell you a strong man knows exactly where his help comes from.
“I look up to the mountains—does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth!” (Psalm 121:1–2).
That’s not weakness. That’s the most grounded thing a man can do.
Faith Changes Who Carries the Weight
You can pray every morning and still feel the pressure. You can read your devotion and still have a hard day.
Faith doesn’t remove the weight. Rather, it changes who you carry it with.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline” (2 Timothy 1:7).
Power. Love. Self-discipline. That’s the blueprint. Not comfort or ease. Not a life where nothing goes wrong.
A life where you don’t fall apart when it does.
When Nobody’s Coming to Save You
So what do you do today?
You show up and pray anyway. You move forward even when it’s uncomfortable. Then you stop waiting for life to get easier and start building the discipline that makes you harder to shake.
Nobody’s coming to save you.
But the One who already did is waiting on you.
A Prayer
God, I’ve been waiting for someone to fix this, and I’ve been too proud to ask You. I’m asking now. Go with me into whatever today holds. Give me courage to take the next step before I feel ready. Amen.
Something to Think About
What’s one step you already know you need to take, instead of waiting to feel ready?
If this hit you, share it with someone who’s been carrying more than they should alone.
