When Life Hits All At Once… What Do You Hold Onto?

Some weeks don’t ease in… they hit.

Work stress.
Bills stacking.
Gas prices climbing.
Food costing more every time you walk in the store.

Then life gets personal.

My daughter’s car breaks down.
Responsibility doesn’t pause.
Pressure doesn’t wait.

And just like that… your mind starts drifting.

Not toward peace…
but toward problems.

You start calculating everything.
Thinking ahead.
Trying to control what you can.

And without even realizing it…
your focus shifts.

Not all at once.
Just enough.

But here’s the part that matters.

Even in the middle of all that… I’ve been showing up.

Praying daily.
Reading my devotion.
Asking for forgiveness.

Not perfect… but consistent.

Some areas I’ve stayed disciplined.
Some I’ve let slip.

And if I’m being real… one of the biggest ones?

Reading my Bible.

Not because I don’t want to…
but because life gets loud, and I let it.

That’s the battle most people won’t admit.

Not just stress…
distraction.

I’ve got things coming up too.

Doctor appointments.
Blood work.
A procedure ahead.

The kind of stuff that sits in your mind if you let it… and slowly turns into worry.

But in the middle of all that…

I’ve also seen something that reminds me what really matters.

My son, in the middle of his own busy life, still showed up to help his sister with her car.

Working.
Taking care of his own family.
Handling his responsibilities.

And still making time to help someone else.

That’s the kind of character that doesn’t get talked about enough.

And honestly… I’m proud of him.

At the same time…

I’ve been missing my oldest daughter and her family.

Life gets busy.
Schedules don’t line up.
Time passes quicker than you think.

But we’re going to change that.

Soon.

Because family isn’t something you “get to when you can.”

It’s something you make time for.

And here’s something I’ve been learning the hard way:

God doesn’t always give us what we want
but He always provides what we need.

Not on our timeline.
Not how we picture it.
But in His way.

And that takes real trust.

Yeah… men feel pressure.

We carry it.
We think about it.
We deal with it quietly.

But faith isn’t weakness.

It’s discipline.
It’s control.
It’s choosing where your focus goes when everything around you is pulling you the other way.

Scripture

“Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.”
— Proverbs 16:3 (KJV)

A Prayer

Right now… I’m asking for prayer for a special family member in Florida.

I don’t need to explain it here.
God already knows.

And I trust that’s enough.

I also want to pray for anyone reading this.

That God would bless you.
That He would pour His grace over your life.
That He would give you peace in the middle of whatever you’re facing.
That your prayers would be heard… and answered in the way you truly need.

And even if you don’t believe…

I still pray for you.

That God would move in your life in a way you can’t ignore.
That He would make Himself known to you…
and show you that you’re not walking through this life alone.

Final Thought

Life doesn’t slow down when you’re overwhelmed.

It keeps moving.
It keeps demanding.
It keeps testing you.

So the real question is:

When everything starts piling up…
what are you holding onto?
