What I Use to Stay Grounded (Real Tools for Real Life)

I don’t just write about faith and real life… I’m living it in the middle of work, family, stress, and everything that comes with it.

So yeah, I’ve got some tools I lean on.

Not perfect ones. Real ones.

Prayer is the first one.

That’s not just something I do when things go wrong.

That’s daily.

Morning. Throughout the day. Whenever I feel the pressure building.

Talking to God resets my mindset. It slows everything down and reminds me I’m not carrying everything on my own.

That’s the foundation.

Staying God-centered

This is the most important one.

Everything else falls apart when this isn’t right.

When I put God first, I think clearer. I respond better. I stay more grounded.

When I don’t… it shows.

Simple as that.

Reading and learning

This is another one that’s made a difference for me.

Not just reading to pass time… reading with purpose.

Books that challenge how I think.

Books that strengthen my faith.

Books that make me stop and actually reflect on my life.

Sometimes it’s a few pages in the morning.

Sometimes it’s at night when things slow down.

But it adds up.

It gives me something to carry into the day.

Something to think about when life gets busy.

And a lot of the books I read, I’ve listed on my website.

Not because I have all the answers… but because those books helped me in some way.

If something helps me stay grounded, focused, or closer to God… it’s worth sharing.

Family

Family isn’t just part of life… it’s part of the support system.

They keep me grounded.

They give me purpose.

They remind me why I need to stay steady.

Whether it’s my kids, my grandkids, or just being present… that matters more than anything else outside of my relationship with God.

Taking breaks when needed

Sometimes you’ve got to step away for a minute.

Clear your head.

That’s where small things come in.

Stress cubes.

Shape-shifting cubes.

Something simple to reset your mind for a few minutes.

It might sound small… but those little resets help more than people think.

It’s not about escaping… it’s about refocusing.

Church as a weekly reset

Church is where I reset everything.

Start of the week. Refocus. Realign.

It’s not just showing up… it’s hearing what I need to hear, whether I like it or not.

It brings me back to center.

Every single week.

Accountability

This one matters more than most people want to admit.

I’ve got someone in my life… a close family member… we don’t see each other all the time.

Life gets busy. Time passes. Excuses happen.

But when we connect, it matters.

We’ve both been through life. Good and bad.

And that’s part of why this blog even exists.

To push each other.

To stay focused.

To keep improving.

Because there’s always room for that.

This blog itself

This might be one of the biggest tools I have.

Because writing this forces me to be honest.

It makes me slow down.

Look at my life.

Check my mindset.

It keeps me accountable.

Not just to people reading it… but to myself.

This is hard work.

But it’s good work.

It’s not about being perfect.

It’s about getting better.

Staying consistent.

Staying grounded.

And if someone else reads this and realizes they’re not the only one dealing with real life struggles…

Then it’s doing exactly what it’s supposed to do.
